  • Apple’s Mac shipments fall more than 40%. Apple’s ($AAPL) worldwide computer shipments fell 40.5% year-over-year in the first quarter of 2023, amid a broader contraction in consumer demand. All five of the largest computer makers also but Apple’s decline was the biggest of the bunch. The company shipped 2.8 million fewer devices year-over-year in the first quarter of 2023.

  • Tesla’s new battery plant cements China’s place in energy storage. The US electric car pioneer will manufacture its Megapack large-scale energy-storage unit in the new facility, which adds to its factory for EVs in Shanghai. The company led by Elon Musk, who is said to have visited China last weekend, made the announcement at a signing ceremony for the project in Shanghai on Sunday.
